Squats…The Miracle Exercise |

It’s no secret that squats are the king of exercises. From experts to novices alike the benefits are endless. As we dig deeper into the benefits of squats I hope the significance of incorporating this exercise into your routine becomes clear. While it is probably true that no exercise is more intimidating, it is true that no single exercise has more full-body effects.
While squats are great for sculpting the quads it doesn’t end there. As stated before, the “full-body” effect also targets the glutes, lower back, hamstrings, abdominal muscles, and calves. Research has also shown that because squats encompass so many muscle groups, it can have an anabolic (muscle building) effect on your body releasing extra testosterone/growth hormone. Squats can also help build bone and tendon strength. As you age the importance of building bone strength and fighting osteoporosis increases.

Steps:
1. Rest the barbell on the upper part of your back.
2. Grip the bar about double shoulder with apart evenly from the center of the bar.
3. Feet should be about shoulder width apart with your feet and knees facing forward yet slightly outward.
4. Start in a controlled fashion bending knees forward while allowing your hips to bend back behind you, Descend until knees are fully bent
5. Extend knees and hips until legs are straight.
6. Repeat
Comments:
Throughout the exercise keep your back straight, knees and feet pointing forward/slightly outward
